Review

With a stylish design and enough room to comfortably fit 8 people, the 2022 Chevy Suburban is both contemporary and commodious. The Suburban's triad of motors is another special feature, especially the 420hp V8 in addition to the torque-rich petrol six-cylinder. But despite the contents within the hood, this large SUV is incredibly agile.

The upper echelon of the lineup is impressive. However, it’s the middle of the lineup that is the most favorable. This is due to its unique blend of sought-after features and exceptional capabilities.

What's in Store for 2022?

There are a few modifications for the Suburban in 2022. This includes the expanded accessibility of the discretionary 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8 motor, now provided on the RST, Z71, and Premier models. Everything except the base LS model now highlights a tailor-made, 12.3-inch virtual gauge bundle and an altered infotainment system that is improved by Google features like app store, maps, and voice assistant.

Furthermore, the Suburban also integrates novel standard mechanized high-beams, lane-keeping assist, as well as front and rear parking sensors, and much more. Additionally, its discretionary outside camera network has been modified with as many as 13 distinct views.

Also, GM's Buckle to Drive attribute now comes as standard equipment and stops from shifting out of park until both the driver and front-seat passenger (if one is present) are strapped in with a seatbelt.

Cost and Which Trim to Purchase

We suggest the RST because of its snazzy and athletic design that offers a jet-black exterior along with 22-inch wheels. It also has alluring customary attributes like the Bose stereo, heated front seats with memory settings as well as leather-allotted first- and second-row seats.

In regards to price, on the lower end of the spectrum, the baseline LS trim goes for a cool $54,495. And on the upper end of the scale, the High Country trim will run you about $74,745.

Motor, Performance, and Transmission

A couple of V8s along with a diesel six-cylinder solidify the Suburban's motor lineup. Each one hooks up to a 10-speed mechanized transmission and either rear- or AWD (all-wheel drive). A 355-hp 5.3-liter V8 is the default motor on each except the premium High Country trim. It receives a customary 420-hp 6.2-liter V8, however, it can also be armed with the discretionary petrol 3.0-liter six-cylinder.

The Suburban can also be contoured with malleable dampers and a flexible air suspension. Moreover, the latter permits the Suburban's ride height to be instantly and automatically dropped or lifted. This allows for enhanced passenger availability, ground clearance, and aerodynamics.

Real-World MPG and Fuel Economy

The Suburban is most effective when armed with the available petrol motor, with rankings of 21 mpg in the city and 27 on the freeway. The customary 5.3-liter V-8 is calculated to be moderately more prudent within the city than the discretionary 6.2-liter V-8, however, both are ranked at 20 mpg on the freeway.

Interior, Cargo, and Comfort

When set side by side with its predecessor, the Suburban's freight and rider volume is noticeably more commodious. Furthermore, its second and third rows retain a few more inches of leg space, and the second-row seats have been modified so they now can move forward and backward. The cargo space of the Suburban also stretches by 23 feet; the cargo bed is lower and more leveled, thanks to the Suburban's liberated rear suspension.

Most of its in-demand choices like its wireless phone charging, and heated and ventilated seats were available before. However, its head-up display is larger than it was previously.

Infotainment and Connectedness

Moving present-day families also means delighting them with entertainment, and the Suburban is chock full of enjoyable infotainment for just this purpose. Coupled with a discretionary rear-seat entertainment network that offers two 12.6-inch monitors fastened behind the front seats, each trim has many charging ports punctuated all over the cabin with a Wi-Fi hotspot. Similarly, a customary 10-inch touchscreen is fastened within the center stack and with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support capabilities.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Attributes

The Suburban offers a myriad of customary driver-assistance mechanics in addition to novel assists for hauling.

  • Standard forward-collision alert and mechanized emergency braking
  • Standard lane-departure alert and lane-keeping assist
  • Available blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning

Maintenance and Warranty Coverage

Chevy offers a limited and powertrain warranty and more complimentary upkeep than all of its competitors with the exception of Toyota.

  • Limited warranty covers 36,000 miles (or three years)
  • Powertrain warranty covers 60,000 miles (or five years)
  • Complimentary maintenance for the first visit is available
